This not-for-profit Smithton service provides play-based early childhood education and care from birth to 12 years. Options for children aged 4–12 include before-school, after-school and vacation care. Families should contact the service directly to discuss vacancies and enrolment.

Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation – Early Childhood Program

Children aged 0–5 and their families can join culturally safe Come & Play sessions at ANZAC Park Playrooms. Alongside parent or carer and child play, coordinators can help families explore relevant local services and resources.

Smithton Library – Rock and Rhyme and Storytime

Libraries Tasmania offers two preschool activities at Smithton Library: Storytime on Tuesdays and Rock and Rhyme on Thursdays, both from 11.00 am to 11.30 am. Families are advised to view and book activities through Eventbrite. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation – New Directions

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with children aged 0–10 can access child and maternal health support in Circular Head. Help includes parenting and baby care, breastfeeding and nutrition information, developmental-milestone support and referrals. Some opportunities, such as swimming lessons and new-parent groups, require booking or active-client status.

Youth, Family and Community Connections – Alcohol and Other Drug Services

Young people, families and friends affected by alcohol, tobacco or other drugs can receive free, confidential assistance. Services include assessment, counselling, outreach, referrals and school or community education. YFCC works with partners in Smithton and has an office at Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation.

Riverbend Youth Centre

Located about 6 kilometres south of Smithton on Trowutta Road, this Christian Brethren Churches of Circular Head campsite runs school-holiday camps for primary-aged children. Check the current camp information for eligible school grades, dates, availability and booking arrangements.

Care2Serve – Help for Young Carers

Young Tasmanians under 25 who provide unpaid care to a family member or friend can access free, confidential statewide support. Depending on individual circumstances, this may include counselling, coaching, tutoring or study equipment, respite, wellbeing activities and connections with other young carers. Registration with Carer Gateway is required for school-holiday activities.

Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS)

FVCSS provides free, voluntary specialist support to Tasmanian children, young people and adults affected by family violence. Available assistance includes information, counselling, referrals, advocacy, practical support and group programs. Its offices are in Burnie, Launceston and Hobart, with appointments available in other locations.
